RED ROOT Ceanothus americanus
Liquid extract of dry whole root.
- Actions: Tonic, astringent and stimulant to mucous membranes; expectorant. Glandular
alterative that promotes decongestion in the portal circulation, lymphatic tissue, liver, and
especially the spleen. Facilitates drainage of cysts and swollen glands.
- Uses: Swollen lymph nodes and adenoids; sore throat, pharyngitis and tonsillitis; mumps;
mononucleosis; chronic torpor of stomach and liver; swollen, congested liver. Excellent
remedy for enlarged, congested spleen (especially of malarial origin) and chronic or sub-acute
splenitis. Clears catarrhal conditions with excessive, thick secretions; chronic bronchitis.
Ovarian cysts.
- Dose: Take 30 to 40 drops, 2 to 4 times per day.
- Cautions: Not to be used in acute splenitis; use only after acute symptoms have passed and
pressure to spleen does not markedly aggravate the pain.
