HORSETAIL Equisetum arvense
Liquid extract of fresh whole infertile herb, harvested in early spring.
- Actions: Good source of soluble silica. Mild diuretic and urinary astringent. Slows or stops
passive bleeding (internal and topical). Strengthens connective tissue.
- Uses: Irritation, inflammation and passive bleeding of kidneys and urinary tract; urinary
mucous discharge; urinary incontinence due to bladder irritation; suppressed urine; prostate
gland inflammation. Edema. Passive bleeding of nose, stomach, intestines, lungs and
bronchi. Repair of connective tissue: ulcers and slow-healing wounds; bone injury,
osteoporosis and arthritic joint erosion; tuberculosis; chilblains.
- Dose: Take 30 to 40 drops, 2 to 4 times per day. Topically apply full-strength (if well
tolerated), or dilute with 2 or 3 parts water.
