BUGLEWEED
BUGLEWEED Lycopus spp.
Liquid extract of dried flowering herb.
- Actions: Counteracts excess thyroxine (thyroid gland hormone). Circulatory and heart sedative; nervous system sedative. Hemostatic (allays minor bleeding).
- Uses: Hyperthyroid (overactive thyroid gland). Heart problems marked by irritable, accelerated or irregular heart action (especially with sense of oppression in chest with difficult breathing); reduces pulse and restores circulatory and cardiac tone. Coughs with copious expectoration (especially chronic debilitating coughs). Mild bleeding of lungs, stomach, intestines, uterus or urinary tract. Insomnia.
- Dose: Take 30 to 40 drops, 3 to 5 times per day. Cautions: Do not use in cases of thyroid enlargement or hypothyroid (under-active thyroid). Consult a physician before taking with thyroid medications. Consult a qualified midwife or physician before taking during pregnancy.
