AMYRIS Amyris balsamifera (Haiti)

This pale yellow oil is often used as an inexpensive substitute for Sandalwood and is often used as a fixative in soaps. Although the fragrance is similar, it quickly fades when exposed to the elements. The plant itself has such a high oil content that it has been used as a torch in its native Haiti.
